Woodball: Zawedde wins two bronze medals

Aug 09, 2016

She will have to wait for the International Woodball Federation rankings to be released

Uganda's top seeded woodball player Lillian Zawedde has improved her chances of topping the international charts by the end of this year by after winning back-to-back bronze medals at her recent engagements.

She won her first bronze medal at the 19th edition of the Malaysia Woodball International open late last week after finishing with 371 strokes in 48 fairways.

She finished 45 strokes behind winner and the world's best Wong Nga Chun with 326 strokes from Hong Kong and the world's second best Chung Chui Ting (353 strokes) in first and second positions respectively.

But her chances of bettering her stake improved after the world's number one, Chun failed to qualify for the finals at the Singapore International Open that ended on Monday were Zawedde again finished in third place.

"It's was not easy making it to the finals though am disappointed that I didn't win the gold," Zawedde stated.

But the Nile Special USPA woodball player of the month of February and May 2016 will have to wait for the International Woodball Federation (IWbF) rankings to be released later this month to confirm her status.
