The duo has been identified as Joseph Kasukali and Moses Kandole both residents of Kigarale sub county in Kyenjojo district.

The Police in Kamwenge district have rounded up two men who have been masquerading as catholic priests from Nsabya parish in Kampala.

The duo has been identified as Joseph Kasukali and Moses Kandole both residents of Kigarale sub-county in Kyenjojo district.

Armed with Bibles and rosaries, Kasukali and Kandole took to the streets of Kamwenge town council and started soliciting money from the faithfuls as they claimed to be praying special blessings for them.

They were later arrested at Kabuga road in Kamwenge after concerned residents tipped off the Police who immediately swung into action.

John Oyesi, the district Police commander (DPC) for Kamwenge told the New Vision that Kasukali was posing as the parish priest for Nsambya parish while his colleague Kandole posed as the deputy.

Upon their arrest, the Police invited Fr. David Byamukama, the parish priest for Kamwenge Catholic parish, who confirmed that the duo were not from Nsambya.

"We are going to charge them with impersonation and obtaining money by false pretense," Oyesi said, before lauding the community for cooperating with the Police to fight crime.

"I am glad that the community policing programme has now started bearing fruits. Cases of the community taking the law into their hands are now reducing. The community now appreciates the role of the Police in handling crime," Oyesi said.
