Online system to change service delivery at Ndejje

Ndejje University has introduced new electronic online information management system known as ZeeVarsity that will improve self-service to the students and staff at all times.

ZeeVarsity is an integrated and unified computerised University information management solution designed to automate Ndejje's business processes and improve towards a customer centred service delivery.

What does ZeeVarsity offer?

It offers online applications and admissions, registration, results and transcripts processing. It will also be used to develop student information database portals for students and staff, payments management system, integration of day-to-day operations and periodical financial reporting. It will also capture students' course modules and timetables.

It can also be accessed by students as a mobile app for students, for phones use the Android and IOS.

This system will kick off on September 1.

The system, however, works with a smart ID card to be issued to each student to able to access available services.

The ZeeVarsity technology will reduce lines at service points and encouraging early submissions of requirements by the students with minimum inconvenience.

The university will have all the policies embedded in the system and enforced while violations will be easily reported and monitored in time.

"The system is event driven providing automatic registration for students and electronic fees payment mechanisms for Banks and telecommunications money transfers. For telecommunication companies, it will start with MTN and AIRTEL mobile money," according to a statement from the university.

The communications officer for the university Collins Ssemanda says: "The system has an integration of finance and academic registrar departments and all other faculties which will make the work very easy and accessible to the students." He adds that the students will be able to register online when attending the semester and the courses they are going to study.

"The technology will assist the finance department have control over all students in each semester and will able to isolate services depending on the students profile as per their payment mode."

The students with grace period to pay tuition fees will also be easy to track through the system.

Students will be able to automatically trace their payments in their modules in real time and even get notifications, while the system will be able to curb fraud as there will be reference put at the hands of the administration for easy verification.

"The newly introduced electronic online information management system will ensure online admissions, improve efficiency at registration, provide online access for results and electronic fees payment customised portal for each student among other services," according to the university's systems manager Moses Nviri.

Students, faculties and staff have similar expectations from accessing information when and where they need it without relying on outside assistance.

"Students want to go online. They want to check their grades or drop a subject at 1.00am and therefore the new system will be very useful to all parties," Nviri said

He said the ZeeVarsity system will easily unify the three campuses operations- Main Campus, Kampala Campus and Lady Irene Campus respectively.

It will also be used in online uploads of relevant academic documents, applicants ranking and weighing system (configurable), online academic document verification to mention but a few uses.
