President Amin threatens to extend Uganda's border.

On August 1, 1974, the Uganda armed forces are put in a state of full alert as President Amin threatens to extend Uganda's border to the Kagera river in Tanzania, the alert is called off the next day, only to be resumed on the August 7, and ended later.


Also on this day 11 years later (1985), at his swearing-in as Prime Minister (pictured above), the former Vice President in the Obote government, Paulo Muwanga, says he played no role in the July coup.
