Karl Martins dreams of playing for Uganda Cranes

Former Edgars Youth Programme football player Karl Martins has promised to work his way to the echelons of football in England.

The 20-year-old currently features for Oxhey Jets FC in the Spartan South Midlands Football League.

"I want to play at the highest level possible. It is never easy but I am working step by step in that direction," says the Ugandan.

Martins was at hand on Monday to sew off Edgars Youth Academy team of 25 players who departed for the Nottingham International Cup due next week. He urged the Edgar youth to listen to coaches if they are to advance further in football.

"Uganda has a lot of talent given proper training and facilities. Everyone of youth has the potential to become great players," the budding striker who departed for England in 2012 counseled the Ugandan side.

Martins Totenham FC academy netted 18 goals from 25 matches for his side last season also looks forward to playing in the national team-Uganda Cranes.

"Definitely I would love to play for the Uganda Cranes. I pray that I can continue having great seasons," he said.

Martins is among the pioneer team of players Edgar Youth Programme, an NGO formed FUFA CEO and former Cranes team captain Edgar Watson.
