The fallen chairman has been described as a pro-people leader.

YUMBE - Long-serving LCIII chairperson of Yumbe town council Moses Rubeson has died at Arua Regional Referral Hospital.

Rubeson, who had served in that position since the inception of the district in 2001, died after a battle with chest complications.

Malik Draguma, the town clerk Yumbe described the fallen leader as approachable, God fearing and a pro-people leader who will be remembered for transforming Yumbe from a trading center to the brink of attaining municipality status.

"Moses Rubeson has been a long-serving officer. He has elevated Yumbe Town Council right from a trading centre in 2001 to town council status which is about to be elevated to municipality status," he said.

"Looking at the infrastructural development, and also the level of population, and also other activities in the town, there is no doubt that Yumbe town council will not be considered as a municipality in the near future, which is a big legacy to be remembered for."

The town council is set to pay special tribute to the fallen chairman before his eventual burial at his ancestral home.
