Some of the HCIVs where construction is taking place include Kasanda, Kiganda, Ngoma, Mwera, Kyantungo and Kikamulo among others.

27 maternal wards and theaters at health centers across the country are in the final phases of construction.

According to a press release from the ministry of health, Prof Anthony Mbonye, the acting director general of Ministry of health, 75% of the work has been finalized.

Some of the HCIVs where construction is taking place include Kasanda, Kiganda, Ngoma, Mwera, Kyantungo and Kikamulo among others.

The constructions, worth $63m are part of the $130m World Bank loan undertaken under Uganda Health System Strengthening Project (UHSSP).

"The project was conceived on the background that Uganda's health system strengthening had over time received insufficient funding from development partners, especially in the areas of improving existing health infrastructure, human resources for health and management of the health sector," says Mbonye.

Under the same funding, the government renovated nine general hospitals of Mityana, Nakaseke, Kiryandongo, Nebbi and Anaka among others.

"This will contribute further to reduction of maternal mortality currently at 343 per 100,000 live births in the next five years," says Mbonye.

The constructions are part of the government's comprehensive plan to renovate hospitals and health centers across the country.

The plan is intended to improve health service delivery through construction and renovation of the dilapidated hospitals and health facilities countrywide. Lwanga advises Christians to resist Fr. Kibuuka antics
