Residents discover two bodies in bush

The deceased are said to be in their early 30s.

Police in Kalungu district are investigating two incidents in which two people were killed and their bodies dumped in separate locations.

The shocking incidents are said to have occurred on Wednesday and Thursday night.

The first body was discovered in a bush by residents of Bukalasa village in Kalungu rural on Wednesday and another by herdsmen in Kamuwunga village, Lukaya Town Council the following day.

However, residents in the two villages could not identify the deceased since they had no identification documents.

The deceased are said to be in their early 30s. Detectives believe they were killed from different vicinity before dumping them in these villages.

Residents in the two villages suspect the deceased to be commercial motorcyclists who might have been killed and robbed of their motorcycles, commonly known as bodaboda.

 Ibin Ssenkumbi, the Southern Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incidents saying they have begun inquiries in order to locate the deceased's relatives.

Ssenkumbi added that the decomposing bodies were taken to Masaka Regional Referral Hospitals for a postmortem as investigations into the incidents continue.

He further cautioned bodaboda cyclists not to transport strange passengers in the wee hours of the night to avoid similar incidents.

He also advised people to always move with their documents for easy identification in case of any trouble.

However, police has appealed to those whose people are missing to visit the mortuary at Masaka Hospital.
