Two people suspected to be serial thieves have been brutally killed by a mob in Kabarole district.

Muviti Mwesige and Ronald Kamulingulize were killed following a break-in in one of the neighbor's shop in Kazingo village.

Their bodies are dismembered and set on fire.

The dead men were suspected of being behind many robberies in the area as well as injuring a local defence guard.

They were reportedly found with stolen mattresses, hoofers and shop merchandise.

Musa Tibakirana, the Kabarole District Police Commander, condemned the killings.

"As police we condemn the acts of mob justice," he said. "We urge the public not to take the law in their hands but always report these suspects so that we investigate further."

Tibakirana said taking the law in one's hand is an offence and perpetrators of such crimes will be arrested for their actions.

No arrests have been made so far.
