Minister warns stakeholders against endless meetings in hotels

"Attending meetings in hotels year over year and spending so much without actually implementing the issues raised will not take Uganda forward," she said.

State minister for Primary education Rosemary Sseninde has warned stakeholders for several initiatives against spending more time on holding meetings without implementing the decisions taken.

"Attending meetings in hotels year over year and spending so much without actually implementing the issues raised will not take Uganda forward," she said.

Sseninde was speaking at stakeholders meeting on consensus building on inclusive education for people with disabilities at Metropole hotel this morning.

Reacting to complaints from participants that the budget allocation for people with disabilities is very minute, Sseninde said it does not matter how much is allocated, but how that money is used.

"Resources are not enough. What any Ugandan would need is accountability... What matters is knowing how the little we are given is spent," she said.

This financial year, less than one percent of the budget was allocated to support people with disabilities. However, according to the 2014 housing and population census, 12 percent of the children below the age of 14 are living with a certain kind of disability.
