Lady Rugby Cranes focused on 2020 Japan Olympics

Helen Buteme said in an interview with New Vision said that winning the Masaku 7s international tournament in Kenya was an indication that there is potential in the country.

The Lady Rugby Cranes strength and conditioning coach has said that they are focusing on building a strong team for the 2020 Tokyo Japan Olympics.

Helen Buteme said in an interview with New Vision said that winning the Masaku 7s international tournament in Kenya was an indication that there is potential in the country.

"We had 10 players who had never played in an international rugby tournament. We were able to expose them to this environment and they have proved they can perform," Buteme stated."

"Our players learnt a lot and by the end of the tournament both teams were playing as a unit.

"We are to work on the weaknesses we identified, build on our strengths over the next few months as we prepare for Rugby Africa 7s tournament in September 17-18 in Zimbabwe.

Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Madagascar, Tunisia, and Senegal will be the countries competing in this tournament.

Buteme explained that they are also working around to have different friendly games with other national teams including Kenya.
