A man from Luweero is on the run after he strangled his three-year-old step-daughter to death and seriously wounded the mother after accusing her of infidelity.
Nicholas Natukunda, a casual labourer in Wobulenzi town is said to have committed the offence at around 3am on Tuesday morning following a domestic dispute.
The OC Wobulenzi Police Station, Valery Birungi said the incident took place in Nakadingidi Zone, a slum area within Wobulenzi town.
Birungi who led a group of policemen who visited the scene on Tuesday morning identified the killed child as 3-year-old Bibian and the wounded mother as Roselyn Katushabe.
Katushabe was by Tuesday morning admitted at Orient Medical Center in Wobulenzi town nursing deep cuts.
Speaking in a faint voice, Katushabe said had been cohabited with Natukunda, but the two separated following a series of misunderstandings.
Natukunda said her former lover stormed her single-roomed house in Nakadingidi One of Wobulenzi Town, pouncing on the child whom he strangled to death before cutting her with a panga.
A resident Bernard Kitamirike said he heard Natukunda’s cried for help in the wee hours of the morning.
He said he went out to find when Natukunda lying in a pool of blood with the body of her strangled baby lying by her side.
Hundreds of residents jammed the blood-stained scene while others crowded Orient Medical Center where Natukunda was admitted.
