Giants Hot Pool fall to Indigo

It was a case of David versus Goliath as Indigo Pool Club humiliated leaders Hot Pool infront of their own fans 14-11 in the Senior Pool League on Sunday.

Boasting of seasoned players like Alfred Gumikiriza, Charles Segawa, Humphrey Nsubuga and Habib Sebuguzi, Centenary sponsored Hot Pool is a better side by far.

But visiting Indigo buoyed by youngsters like Richard Kizito, David Bukenya and Andrew Lukwago stole a 4-1 lead in the first set.

Despite seizing the initiative through Habid Ssebuguzi and Charles Segawa, the home side took a 7-6 halftime lead. After Humprey Nsubuga and Alfred Gumikiriza pulled three wins each, Hot Pool pushed the lead to 10-7.

However, as Hot Pool fans started cheering their side, the visitors fought back by winning all the remaining 7 frames.

Richard Kizito and Andrw Lukwago and David Bukenya were the men who caused havoc to the giants with a spectacular display of form. The trio reeled victory in four frames each leaving Hot Pool 14-11.

The loss leaves Hot Pool level at 30 points from 13 matches together with defending champions Skin Samona and Scrap Buyers.

Scrap Buyers and Skin Samona all enjoyed comfortable wins. Samona went on riot with a 18-7 victory over Red Shooters in Masindi while Scrap Buyers hit Maga 17-8.

In the other match, CKI also thumped Betway Anchors 16-9 to keep their hopes of contesting for the 2016 title alive. CKI are fourth-placed at 27 points.
