Wakiso resident district commissioner Ian Kyeyune has said a security committee has been put in place to investigate the former Bulaga LC1 chairman Eng. Ferry Bugembe and later make a report which will determine his fate.

This comes after Bugembe stormed Kyeyune's office with a group of Bulaga residents claiming that he should be given back his office after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) cleared him of allegations of robbery cases.

Bugembe was in May this year arrested by Wakiso police on claims he was behind the robberies that take place in Bulenga and surrounding areas following the burning of a vehicle belonging to his wife by the residents of Nakuwadde after suspecting it to have been used by robbers.

He was taken into police custody together with other two teenagers revealed that used a gun given to them by Bugembe to rob people at night.

During in detention, Bugembe was replaced by Edinah Kirabira as the village chairperson by the guidance of Wakiso district registrar.

And after the DPP declaring him a free man with no case to answer, Bugembe mobilized some people and stormed Kyeyune's office demanding the return of his office immediately which the RDC declined to do, saying that Bugembe should be patient until the security committee completes its work and make a report that will determine whether he is reinstated as chairman or not.

"I know what happened because Bugembe had a bad day and he was implicated in a robbery scandal and I ordered for his arrest but at the same time the village had to have leadership and we already replaced him with Madam Kirabira and we hear that Bugembe just hijacked the office people did not elect him so we must find out the truth about this first," said Kyeyune.

Bugembe told Kyeyune that he was on the village executive in charge of the environment and that four months after the elections, the chairperson Jane Gwokyalya Ssonko died. According to Bugembe, he was elected by the people under the guidance of the then-Wakiso RDC Francis Lukooya Lukoome.

Kyeyune said that according to the law, if a village chairperson dies, the vice or the secretary takes over and he wondered how Bugembe who was in charge of the environment surpassed the two people.

After the chaotic scenes, Kyeyune ordered Bugembe to lead his people back to Bulaga, urging him to keep peace in the area not to create unrest like his people had threatened to do.
