Stay calm, Ugandans in Juba told

Last evening there was gunfire near the presidential palace where soldiers loyal to Dr Riek Machar and those loyal to Salva Kiir exchanged fire

The permanent secretary of ministry of foreign affairs Ambassador James Mugume has appealed to Ugandans in South Sudan to stay in their homes for their safety until the situation in Juba is contained.

Last evening there was gunfire near the presidential palace where soldiers loyal to vice president Dr Riek Machar and those loyal to President Salva Kiir exchanged fire killing 5 government soldiers .

Mugume says the two leaders have issued a joint statement and committed to resolving the issue peacefully but advised Ugandans to stay in their homes.

Meanwhile, Mugume said that he was not aware of the Ugandan Dr Chandiga Ben operating a Generation Pharmacy in Juba who is believed to have died after he was shot in the neck.
