Records are expected to tumble with the growing number of competitors this year

When Kenya's Torpedo and and USIU Dolphins swim clubs were beaten to the overall trophy by the Seals Club, they promised to bring in more swimmers to avenge the defeat this year.

Time will tell if they can walk the talk as the second edition of the championship starts today at Kampala Parents Pool.

And it doesn't get any easier as over 200 swimmers from 14 clubs are vying for the championship over four days of action.

Other Kenyan sides Kisumu Swim club, Otters, and Makini Schools are also expected in the fray alongside the hosts and top Ugandan swim club Dolphins.

Altona, Sharkteens, Makerere University, UCU, Gliders, Rubaga girls, Pirates, Rugi Sharks are also vying for the championship in the annual, Centenary Bank sponsored tournament.

Records are expected to tumble with the growing number of competitors this year; the reason why last year's top swimmers Amos Bakka (Altona), Nuwa Senkebe and Anthea Mudanye must be at their best to defend their leads in their age categories.

A ‘10 & Under' category has been added for the upcoming young swimmers to also prove who is best among their peers.

The swimmers will compete in four age categories; the 10 & Under, 11-12, 13-14 and 15 & over but they will be required to qualify from different heats that are going to be held in the mornings.

Seals swim club were the overall winners of the inaugural gala last year with 941.5 points, followed by Torpedo from Kenya with 493 points while Altona swim club from Kampala were the second runners up with 265.5 points.
