The group is said to have been waylaying their victims during heavy traffic jams.

Police together with Makindye division mayor, Ali Mulyanyama, are working out strategies on how to resettle 400 prominent Kifesi crew criminal members.

"Police has mobilized over 400 youth, men and women who have been involved in crime in and around Kampala. We had a meeting with them and realized that many grew up on the streets, others are from broken marriages, and unemployed who are looking for means of survival," the Special Standards Unit Commandant in Police, Fortunate Habyara told journalists at the police's weekly press briefing at the Police headquarters in Kampala.

He noted that in their meeting, the youth vowed to stop their acts, thus resulting into reduced incidences of crime in areas of Katwe, Makindye division, Kampala Central and Kisenyi.

The group is said to have been waylaying their victims during heavy traffic jams.

"We are mobilizing them to get what to do. The IGP and Makindye Mayor have agreed to work together to help them get jobs through small scale projects like wielding, saloons and bodda bodas am,ong others," Habyara noted.

Those who dropped out of school due to lack of school fees, he said will be helped to gO back to school.

Habyara also warned police officers over illegal deployment at people's residents.
