Duncan Mugabe and Kenya's Simon Ayella will not take part in the Kenya Open Tennis Championship for one year.

The duo was banned after engaging in a fight at the end of their quarterfinal doubles game during the one-week annual tennis tournament.

Despite winning the game, its alleged that Mugabe spat at Mohammed Omary from Burundi after the contest which sparked the fight. Omary had paired with Kenyan Albert Njogu.

Elsewhere, Kenya's Ismail Changawa and his sibling Shufaa Changawa were crowned champions in the men's and women's singles.

Shufaa beat second seed Stephanie Mbaya 6-4, 6-6 (7), 6-3 in an all-Kenyan final while Ismail took the men's category without stepping on the court after his opponent in the final, Mugabe had already been shown the exit from the tournament.
