Christakis Fitidis on 90 points is fifth on the NRC standings

Uganda rally drivers will take the fight to Tanzania targeting maximum points to be added on their National Rally Championship tally.

Drivers Christakis Fitidis, Duncan Mubiru, Yassin Nasser, Rauf Adam and Jas Mangat have all confirmed their participation in the Oryx Tanzania Rally due next month (July 8-10) in Bagamoyo which is the fourth round of the Africa Rally Championship.

The crews; Mangat and Joseph Kamya, Mubiru and George Ssemakula, Fitidis with Eric Nzamwita, are targeting the 140 points the winner of the event adds to his NRC points.

The former Rwanda Rally champion Fitidis, 62, swapped the third round of the NRC in Masaka for the ARC event in Tanzania.

Fitidis on 90 points is fifth on the NRC standings and a win in Tanzania will haul him into second position with 230pts, 15 ahead of the 2014 Nile Special USPA rally driver of the year Ronald Ssebuguzi who is on 215points.

"I switched the Masaka rally with the one in Tanzania and besides I want to enjoy and rub shoulders with friends," Fitidis told New Vision Sport.

Mubiru who has been regular in Tanzania believes that he can win the event and get back in contention for the title.
