Funds for the projects are likely to be returned if not utilized by 30th June

Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have expressed concern over the delay in the completion of most construction projects in Katakwi District.

According to them the delays are evident in the sub counties of Omodoi, Magoro, Toroma, Usuk, Ongongoja and Katakwi where they had gone to monitor this week.

Teso Anti-Corruption Coalition (TAC), the district leadership and Katakwi District Development Actors Network (KaDDAN) were supported by Action Aid to jointly monitor the construction of teacher's houses, roads and pit latrines among others.

Peter Eceru the advocacy officer TAC expressed worry that the funds for these uncompleted projects are likely to be returned to the centre if not utilized before the end of this financial year ending 30th June.

However, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer TAC, Dinah Atai Onyait was impressed that the defects were corrected in most of the construction projects.

Katakwi CAO, Ismael Musa Onzu said most construction projects will be completed before the end of this month.
