Soldier kills seven at Makindye barracks

KAMPALA - A soldier attached to Makindye police barracks has killed seven people, including children, in a scuffle at the barracks.

Army spokesperson Lt. Col. Paddy Ankunda said the officer, Sgt. Isaac Obua, was also "put out of action".

He described the shooting episode as "sad".

"Sgt Obua Isaac of military police Makindye has just gone bonkers; killed seven people. All of the killed are women and children, one child injured," tweeted Ankunda.

Ankunda wrote further that "we are in mourning".

The motive of the killer soldier is not known yet.
