These were the words of wisdom from former Rugby Cranes' forward coach Brian Makalama in a conversation with New Vision.

Rugby governing body should not wait for sponsors' money to run development activities in the various regions of Uganda. They should lay a strategy that raises funds from the huge fanbase.

These were the words of wisdom from former Rugby Cranes' forward coach Brian Makalama in a conversation with New Vision.

"Uganda has a lot of talent but URU (Uganda Rugby Union) and UWRA (Uganda Women Rugby Association) are waiting for miracles to take place," Makalama stated.

Makalama, also a former Black Pirates coach in the Nile Special premier rugby league and currently the Director of Rugby at Bungoma Sharks in Kenya, added that organisations use merchandise to raise money and also publicise themselves.

"URU and UWRA should not wait for miracles but should come with working strategies," Makalama stated.

The former Rugby Cranes start cited the Kenya Rugby Union and Kenyan clubs who have raised funds from selling club merchandises like Jerseys, shirts, handkerchiefs, bangles and armbands.
