Lugazi Municipality MP loses seat over academic papers

JINJA - The High Court of Jinja has kicked Lugazi Municipality (formerly Buikwe West) MP Isaac Mulindwa Ssozi out of the 10th Parliament over lack of academic qualifications.

He becomes the second casuality of such a court decision in less than a week.

On Friday, the High Court of Kampala threw out Busiro South MP-elect Peter Ssematimba, also over his academic qualifications.

For one to vie for a parliamentary seat, one must have attained at least an A'Level certificate or its equivalent that is recognised by the regulator, National Council of Higher Education (NCHE).
