Senior badminton players will now have more opportunities to keep fit throughout the year as they take part at the inaugural Individuals Challenge Badminton League that resumes over the weekend at Victory City Church in Ntinda, Kampala.

Besides the usual tournaments that catered more for the young stars, the individual challenge that started last weekend is open to all including the old-timers and will also go into local history as the first event Badminton Development Program (BDP) has partnered with Uganda Badminton Association (UBA) in over four years.

"We discussed it with them (BDP) and found out that their intentions are to keep players fit which I think is a good idea especially for our senior athletes so we opted to partner with them," UBA's Chief Executive Officer Simon Mugabi stated.

In the singles, local seed one Shamim Bangi will be looking for her opening victory in the women's singles against Mable Namakoye before Betty Apio and Scovia Nabasirye take on national team players Daisy Nakalyango and Aisha Nakiyemba respectively.

Meanwhile in the men's side, the tight game is expected to be between USPA badminton player of the year Daniel Mihigo and Allan Nkiire while Jacob Musisi and Ian Senoga will face Fred Kirabo and Ivan Senfuka respectively.
