The former contestant in the Omoro County MP race Simon Toolit Aketcha has recorded a statement with the Gulu Central Police Station in connection with his abduction.

Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson Jimmy Patrick Okema said Toolit registered a case of abduction in Gulu CPS on Wednesday.

Toolit was referred to the Gulu CPS by Police detectives from Kira Road Police Station in Kampala where he had registered the alleged abduction case.

On May 25th at around 3:00am, Tolit was alleged abducted by unknown gunmen from his home in African Quarters, in Pece Division in Gulu Municipality and took him to an unknown destination.

Toolit's whereabouts were unknown for three days after his alleged abduction. He claimed he was bundled into a car by two armed men who kept him in an unknown garage in the Kampala surburb of Kamwokya.

He contested against the Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah for the Omoro seat and lost.

Toolit subsequently challenged Oulanyah's re-election in court, but the case has since been dismissed on grounds of lack of evidence.
