Ezekiel Bakii needs sh120m to undergo a kidney transplant in India

Rally drivers have joined a campaign to save the life of rally fan Ezekiel Bakii who needs sh120m to undergo a kidney transplant in India.

Bakii is rally fanatic who has travelled across the country and outside the country to support Ugandan drivers.

Last year he was involved in the organisation of the first edition of Mountains of the Moon Rally which ended successfully prompting the motorsport governing body to approve this year's edition.

"As drivers this is the only way of giving back to our fans who sacrifice a lot for us. They incur all sorts of expenses following and supporting us so when we heard of the plight we had to support," Alfred Byona told New Vision.

"We are appealing to every rally driver, sports fan or any person who can afford to offer the little available so that we save Ezekiel," he added.

Drivers Dr. Ahmed Ashraf, Christakis Fitidis, Byona and Rauf Adam contributed sh500,000 each, Desh Kananura and Hassan Alwi sh1m while Godfrey Aine contributed sh300,000.

The sh120m will cater for Bakii's transport and medical bills.
