Uganda Council on Foreign Relations launched

The Council was birthed on the theme: Reorienting Uganda's Foreign Policy, Addressing Contemporary Foreign Policy Challenges and was launched by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Sam K. Kutesa at Protea Hotel in Kampala, Uganda.

Uganda Council on Foreign Relations was launched setting precedence on the country's reorientation of Uganda's foreign policy.

The Council was birthed on the theme: Reorienting Uganda's Foreign Policy, Addressing Contemporary Foreign Policy Challenges and was launched by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Sam K. Kutesa at Protea Hotel in Kampala, Uganda.

In an event attended by high ranking diplomats, members of the defence forces, Past Ambassadors, Honorary Consuls and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, calm & optimistic sentiments were rendered towards the Council's birth.

 

 

H.E Patrick Edwards, the former Head of Mission Trinidad & Tobago, hinted that focus by the Council shall be put on advising but no interfering with government programs on foreign policy.

He also stated that think tanking, holding seminars and symposiums to hold discourse about trending foreign policy issues would be a part the unique agenda in the operations of the council.

The Council shall have a membership base of Foreign Policy practitioners, Academia, Government Officials, Civic society leaders, Religious leaders, Business executives and Private sector representatives.

The membership categories include; Individual, Associate, Corporate, Organisation, Student and acceptance onto the Council shall be based on Interest, Expertise, Professionalism and Integrity.

Annual membership fees to the council are prescribed as; Individual (UGX 500,000), Associate (UGX 300,000), Corporate / Organization (UGX 5,000,000), Student (UGX 100,000)
