Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) executive Director Jennifer Musisi has assured Kasubi Family Primary School management and pupils that the school will stay in existence."None of the people claiming the land where the school is standing has any documents explaining ownership of the land." said Musisi

Musisi made the statement on Tuesday during her first visit to the school ever since some structures were knocked by unknown people two weeks ago.

Unknown persons went to the school on the night of 23 May 2016 and demolished the walls of some of the classroom, claiming that they had informed KCCA about their move.

The school has been involved in wrangles over the land management by the family of the late Abisagi Nakyekoledde, who is said to have given away the school to government, 1971.

Musisi arrived at the school at around 4pm on Tuesday accompanied by a team of KCCA directors including the director of education services Juliet Namuddu, the director of engineering and Technical Services Andrew Kitaka and others.

At the school, she was welcomed by a team of pupils and Teachers headed by the school head Edward Mukasa. She said the news of the school demolition was a surprise to KCCA adding that they deployed security immediately to prevent anyone from destroying the school property again.

She further told teachers and pupils that KCCA and the school management are doing what is necessary to see that the school structures are reconstructed.

Musisi further said the KCCA legal team would look closely at papers of all claimants.

"KCCA cannot allow anyone to demolish the school without alternative premises .No one should interrupt with pupils' studies," Musisi stated.

She further instructed security led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Jeff Sebuyungo not vacate the school premises to ensure that pupils study in peace. Musisi added that what happened to the school was considered an emergency by KCCA, adding that it is working as fast as possible to have the school back to normal.

Mukasa the school head teacher told The New Vision that Musisi's visit to the school gave them much hope, that they would keep operating at the school.
