Hot Pool are currently atop the standings with 24 points

Hot Pool club kingpin Alfred ‘Black Sheep' Gumikiriza has tipped his side to sweep honours against his former masters in the Senior Pool League this season.

The former Skin Samona player says the league title will be claimed by his new Ntinda based master.

"This is very promising year for us. We only need to stay focused and keep the pace. I am working hard to see that I don't disappoint my new team," the former top seed said.

Hot Pool are currently atop the standings with 24 points, three points ahead of defending champions Skin Samona who are tied at 21 points together with Kisenyi-based Scrap Buyers.

The 16-team league resumes this weekend with a titanic fixture pitting Hot Pool against Scrap Buyers at Lumas Arena on Saturday.

The star studded Centenary Bank sponsored Hot Pool led by seed four Gumikiriza, Jonan Turigye and Humphrey Nsubuga will be looking for their Club's 9th win in a row against Scrap Buyers.

A positive result will open up a six-point gap from the other top contenders.

They however have a big challenge taming the reliable and experienced Wasswa Kayiiya, Andrew Kabubi, Joseph Mutawe, Salim Akankwasa who have kept Scrap Buyers on course.

The Kisenyi side has so far lost only one match after failing to honour an unfinished game against CKI.

"This is one of the most exciting and competitive seasons I have ever watched because all teams are promising and unpredictable." Pool Association of Uganda official Michael Mawanda said of the event.

"The past seasons have witnessed only one team dominating with no stiff competition but now a six way fight is evident," he added.

In other fixtures, 5th placed Club Klein of Masaka travel to Masindi where they take on struggling Red Shooters at Sure Hotel on Saturday.

Defending Champions Skin Samona will move to Nansana to face Icon while Betway Anchors will face Unpredictable Indigo.

Sula Matovu's CKI will have an easy tie on Sunday as they face Nakawa Pool Rangers at Temusewo.
