Oyam district eats big in new cabinet

Three of the four newly appointed ministers from Lango region are from Oyam district.

President Yoweri Museveni released the long-awaited list of his ministers on Monday.

In the appointments, Betty Amongi Akena (lands minister), Dr. Jane Aceng (health minister) and Col (Rtd) Charles Okello Engola Macodwogo (state defence) all are from Oyam district.

Ruth Acheng (state fisheries) comes from Kole.

Rolex Akena Ogwal, a former Oyam district councilor, appreciated Museveni for picking the three ministers from Oyam district, a sign he said of the president's love of people of Oyam.

Ogwal, who defected from UPC and contested under the NRM ticket but lost to a UPC candidate sponsored by Betty Amongi, said they had long-known that Betty Amongi was a mole in UPC but in concealment.

Akena said the appointed ministers should not use their positions to fight others for selfish ends.
