Food shortage hits Katakwi

Jun 06, 2016

As many as 160 out of 178 households in one village are affected.

Nearly all of the population of Adacar village in Usuk sub-county, Katakwi district has been hit by food shortage.

Figures obtained from the LC1's office indicate that 160 out of 178 households sleep on a single meal a day.

John Olupot, the area LC1 chairperson, attributes the shortage to the previous drought and waterlogging.

Olupot is calling on Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and the disaster and preparedness ministry to send some food relief to the affected people.
