Abim leadership apologizes to Iteso for killings

Recently, Juventine Aeru, in his 50s, was killed by suspected Jabwor.

The leadership of Abim district has apologized for the recent killings of people from Teso who are settled there.

This was during a dialogue meeting between Amuria, Abim and Napak districts to harmonize the Iteso, Jabwor and Karamojong tribes who are conflicting over land.

The meeting was held at Aolio village over the weekend.

Recently, Juventine Aeru, in his 50s, was killed by suspected Jabwor and seven others hacked to death in different locations.

Several property was also destroyed in the deadly attacks.

This was after the Iteso and Jabwor claiming ownership of the villages of Alungar, Akuoro, Aolio, Apuuton and part of Nyarikidi zone, among others, where over 9,000 Iteso are currently staying.

Jimmy Ochero, the district chairperson of Abim, apologized to Iteso, saying the killings and lootings were also as a result of the few individuals in Teso who are inciting violence.
