Duncan Mugabe looks for podium finish in F1 Futures

Mugabe laid out his plans after signing a one year sponsorship deal with Roke Telkom on Thursday at their offices in Kampala.

Uganda's top seed Duncan Mugabe is targeting a podium finish in the Mozambique Futures tournament that start June 6 in Maputo.

Mugabe laid out his plans after signing a one year sponsorship deal with Roke Telkom on Thursday at their offices in  Kampala.

"I did not perform well in the singles last year but I am prepared to improve on my performance,"Mugabe stated.

Mugabe received sh12m from the telecom company to cover flight costs, accommodation, training equipment and Kit.

Roke Telkom Marketing Manager, Grace Namutebi promised to continue supporting tennis.

"Our target is sponsoring sports disciplines that really need to be developed,"Namutebi stated.

She added that last year they featured as co-sponsors of the Uganda Open and that they are ready to support this year's open if approached by the organisers.

Mugabe will  take part in the Mozambique F1 Futures from June 6-12 then later in the Mozambique F2 Futures on June 13-19.

From Mozambique, Mugabe will travel to Nairobi for the Kenya Open for one week before taking part in tge Goma Open in Democratic Republic of Congo.
