Bunyoro-Kitara Diocese gets new Bishop

He was elected on Wednesday by the House of Bishops of the Church of Uganda sitting in Namirembe

Rev. Canon Samuel Kahuma has been elected the next Bishop of Bunyoro-Kitara Diocese.

The election was made by the House of Bishops of the Church of Uganda sitting in Namirembe on 1st June 2016.

He was elected on Wednesday by the House of Bishops of the Church of Uganda sitting in Namirembe. He will be consecrated and enthroned as Bishop on December 3, 2016 at St. Peter's Cathedral, Duhaga.
 
Kahuma is currently serving as the Diocesan Secretary of Bunyoro-Kitara Diocese. He has also served as the Archdeacon of Hoima Archdeaconry, Dean and Vicar of St. Peter's Cathedral, and parish priest of several parishes in Bunyoro-Kitara Diocese.

He has chaired a number of boards, including Duhaga Secondary School, Kakindo Secondary School, Mustard Seed Babies Home, and Mothers' Union Vocational Training Centre, Duhaga.
 
Kahuma was ordained a deacon in 1990 and a priest in 1991 in Bunyoro-Kitara Diocese; he was made a Canon of St. Peter's Cathedral in 2004.
 
Kahuma earned an MA in Global Issues in Contemporary Mission from Redcliffe College of the University of Gloucestershire (UK), and a Bachelor of Divinity and Diploma of Theology from Uganda Christian University.
 
Canon Kahuma is married to Sarah Kahuma and they have one son. He will succeed the Rt. Rev. Nathan Kyamanywa as Bishop of Bunyoro-Kitara Diocese.
