2015 National Best Farmer receives prestigious leadership award

The award honours accomplished charitable community leaders aged 40 and below who are demonstrating significant impact in addressing society's critical needs.

Dr. Diana Nambatya has been nominated for the prestigious American Express NGen Leadership Award.

The award honours accomplished charitable community leaders aged 40 and below who are demonstrating significant impact in addressing society's critical needs.

Nambatya who emerged the best farmer of 2015, keeps poultry, cattle and grows vegetables on her farm in Kulambiro, near Ntinda in Kampala.

In addition to farming, Nambatya is the country manager for Global Health Corps.

Out of the 20,000 people that were nominated for the award, five finalists were identified. They include:

·     Steve Choi, New York Immigration Coalition (@SteveChoiNYIC)

·     Jessica González-Rojas, National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health (@jgonzalez_rojas)

·     Trista Harris, Minnesota Council on Foundations (@TristaHarris)

·     Diana Nambatya Nsubuga, Global Health Corps (@NsubugaDiana)

"I am elated by this recognition, especially the fact that I am emerging as one of the best among 20,000 people initially nominated," remarked Nambatya.

Nambatya is due to travel for an agriculture tour in the Netherlands on June 11, courtesy of her 2015 win of the best farmers competition, organised by Vision Group, and supported by the Embassy of the Netherlands, DFCU bank and KLM airlines.
