Money amounting to over sh50m was paid as compensation for their land

Police in Ntungamo is holding a one Dennis Kahirika, 25, a driver for Ntungamo Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for reportedly hacking his mother to death.

The Ntungamo DPC, Baker Kawonawo identified the deceased as Alice Kahirika a resident of Kitashekwa, Rweikiniro in Ruhaama, Ntungamo district.

He said that Kahirika allegedly used a machete to hack his mother to death after a quarrel over the money she got from selling family land.

The money amounting to over sh50m was paid to Alice as compensation for their land by the Zhongmei Road Construction Company.

The Chinese company is constructing a tarmac road in Ntungamo-Mirama hills that will connect Uganda and Rwanda.

According to Police, Kahirika who was in the RDC's vehicle drove off as residents tried to lynch him. He handed himself in at Ntungamo Police Station.

The Ntungamo Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Justine Mbabazi could not be reached for a comment as her mobile phone was off by press time.
