Lwanga stressed that there are some people who want to divide "our church" with teachings contrary to the Catholic Church doctrines.

The Archbishop of Kampala, Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga has cautioned Catholic Church leaders at various levels to be conscious about the wrong elements within the church.

Lwanga stressed that there are some people who want to divide "our church" with teachings contrary to the Catholic Church doctrines.

He made the remarks while giving his sermon during the celebration of St. Andrew Kaggwa day as the patron of catechists and Christian teachers within the Catholic Church, at Munyonyo Martyrs' Shrine.

Hundreds of the catechists, teachers and other catholic believers from five dioceses of Kampala, Masaka, Mityana, Lugazi and Kasana-Luwero, attended the event to honour Kaggwa, St.Dennis Sebugwawo and Posiano Ngodwe who were killed on May 26, 1886 by the then Kabaka Daniel Mwanga after refusing to denounce their Catholic faith.

They three are part of the 22 Catholic Martyrs who were killed in different areas.

"Today we have some people who want to divide our church. You must be strong in your faith as catechists and Christian teachers to safeguard our religion and doctrines like your Patron St. Andrew Kaggwa," Lwanga noted.

He thanked the catechists for the good work they do in their respective areas to promote the doctrines of the church, saying that it has contributed to the growth in faith and membership of the church.
