A Ugandan golf team of twelve players are in camp for a qualifier ahead of the Victoria Cup against Kenya at the Muthaiga Golf Club in Nairobi from June 3-5.

Long serving national team players Adolf Muhumuza and Ronald Rugumayo who were on the team that represented Uganda in the Zone 5 Championships last month are among the twelve who are competing for the top eight slots that are available for the trip.

Zone Six Champion Martin Ochaya who had been sidelined by a wrist injury is also back to vie for a place on the team alongside regular contestants Grace Kasango, Becca Mwanja, Ismail Muhamood, Hassan Kiyemba, Titus Okwong and Andrew Byaruhanga.

Junior golfers Edrine Okong, Joel Basalaine and Dennis Asaba are also in the running for a slot for the three-day tournament which will be played under the Ryder Cup format.

Each country's 8 players will be involved in a match-play competition, of two singles rounds and two rounds of foursomes.

The singles will involve one-on-one matches contested for by the 8 players from either country while the foursomes will have pairs fighting it out in the inaugural competition of this stature between the two countries.

The team will set off on June 1 ahead of the practice round and flag raising ceremony on June 2 before the three days of competition thereafter.
