Kalanguka still leading with 2000 votes

The former 2014 Miss Uganda who was perceived by the majority of Ugandans as unworthy of the crown has risen above critics’ words, and instead compelled them to vote for her.


Leah Kalanguka is still in the lead at World Next Top Model contest with over 4000 votes. By   the end of Wednesday, she had over 3000 votes.

About four days ago, a young marketing agency; Dreamstar Digital launched an online campaign dubbed IVoteUganda on Facebook.

The IVoteUganda Facebook page with Kalanguka's image has gained about 383 likes and over 38000 views in the past four days.

Stephen Obeli Someday, the Co-founder and social media strategist at Dreamstar Digital, who is behind this campaign, says that initially they wanted to help Kalanguka win the World Next Top Model crown, but along the way they decided to make it bigger.

 


They turned it into a community that will support every Ugandan representing their country, and are in need of votes to successfully do so.

"The response has been way beyond what we expected, though we had to put in a little money for the post boosting. We have been able to reach over 38000 people; 4800 of those people reacted to post either by clicking the like button, commenting, or clicking on the vote link, and also shared it," he said.

Obeli said that the first post on the page managed to reach 22,000 individuals; over 1400 of those clicked on the vote link http://www.pageantvote.net/pageants/668/contestants/5315/.

Voting will end in 11 days' time, on May 31st.
If Kalanguka gets the crown, she will walk away with €5000 from Lebanon, the country host of the pageant.

Other countries like Brazil is keeping it in second place at 2246, Greece maintains third place at 1152, while Cyprus that was in fourth place days ago with 584 votes; has gone off the top five, and replaced by Cameroon with 853, and Philippines is at fifth position at 850 votes.
