COPA Coca-Cola: Kitende coach eyes next stage

The Wakiso giants take on Kitebi Light on Tuesday in what Kitende coach Richard Wasswa said is a good match.

Rather than worry about the COCA Coca-Cola preliminary matches, St. Mary'SS Kitende coach Richard Wasswa looks forward to the qualifying round as the event kicked off in Soroti on Monday.

The Wakiso giants take on Kitebi Light on Tuesday in what Kitende coach Richard Wasswa said is a good match.

"As defending champions, we are set for the challenge. The draw is fair. I have no worries, I can see us in the qualifying round," said Wasswa who doubles as the national U-20 coach.

"I believe we have a big potential to retain the title" vowed Wasswa further.

Dynamic SS and Kitgum High made formidable steps with early victories on Monday.

Edirisa Lubega and Mansur Sasi netted in either half for Dyanmic while Teso region champions Amus College and hosts Teso College Aloet were all stretched to a 0-0 draw.

Kitende is drawn in group C alongside Kitebi Light, Kabalega SS, Hands of Grace, Nkoma SS, Bukoyo S.S, Alere, Bishops S.S,

Over 60 teams are in Soroti for the two week championship runs up to May 28. Other teams expected to vie for honour alongside Kitende include perennial contenders Kibuli SS, Masaka SS, Budo SS, St. Juliana (Wakiso), Dynamic SS (Mukono) and Citizen College of Mbarara.
