CAF dismissed Uganda from the qualification after noticing discrepancies in date of birth of some of the players.

FUFA president Moses Magogo has promised to punish individuals, who have led to disqualification of the national U-20 football team from the 2017 AFCON qualifiers.

CAF dismissed Uganda from the qualification after noticing discrepancies in date of birth of some of the players.

"I equally feel the pain of overturning our U-20 national team result on the pitch by a CAF boardroom decision. FUFA has completed its internal investigations and we know exactly what happened. Details will be shared with the public and definitely hard decisions will follow to punish those who erred and to prevent re-occurrence," Magogo said.

Rwandan football federation FERWAFA petitioned CAF over ineligibility of four Ugandan players who took part in a qualifier played on April 23rd, 2016 in Kampala.

Out of four players FERWAFA petitioned against, CAF proved that goalkeeper James Aheebwa has a different date of birth at his club Viper SC(March 27, 1997), while he indicated May 19, 1998 as his birth date for the U-20 qualifier.

Other players whose legalities were questioned include were Frank Tumwesigye, Halid Lwalirwa and Martin Kizza.

Rwanda's petition stated that the dates of birth on the passports of the four players were different compared to the ones registered with their clubs that took part in CAF competitions this season; Vipers SC and SC Villa .

Rwanda will now host Egypt in the first leg scheduled for May 20-22 while the second leg will be staged between June 10-12 in Cairo.
