Petition against Museveni dismissed

Musota noted that the validity of President Museveni was not in doubt since the Supreme Court had already pronounced itself on the matter

The High Court has dismissed an application in which two citizens are seeking to block President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni's sweating-in, for lack of merit. The swearing-in is slated to take place on Thursday this week.

Justice Stephen Musota, the head-civil division of the High Court said that the application for interim order was filed without the main application.

Musota noted that the validity of President Museveni was not in doubt since the Supreme Court had already pronounced itself on the matter.

"The validity of the election is not in question since the Supreme Court has pronounced itself on the matter," Musota ruled.

The High Court Judge also ordered Kizza Hakim and Moses Bigirwa to pay the costs of the suit, saying being a lay person does not give the duo liberty to abuse court's process.
