Prison's Netball team receives $2800

The team won the recently East African Netball Regional Netball Championship 2016, beating Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania to the title.

The Commissioner General of Uganda Prison Services Dr. Johnson Byabashaija has rewarded the prison's netball team with $2800 in recognition of their excellent performance in the just concluded East African Netball Championship 2016.

The team won the recently East African Netball Regional Netball Championship 2016, beating Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania to the title.

Byabashaija rewarded each of the 19 players with shs 500,000 and promoted 17 of them to various ranks as they presented their trophy to the prison's Chief at the prison's headquarters.

"Emerging  overall  winners  in  the  East African  Netball  Regional  Netball  Championship  2016  is not a small achievement for that  reason, these ladies deserve recognition for their efforts,"  Byabashaija said.  

Byabashaija noted that the reward is in line with the prison service policy of recognizing excellent sportsmen and women.

"We are grateful for your achievement and effort towards uplifting the image of Uganda Prison services. Not only were you representing the force but the entire nation," Byabashaija said as he commended the discipline, confidence and skills the players displayed in promoting sports.

The players include Jessica Achan, Florence Among, Lillian Ajiyo, Florence Nanyonga and Halima Nakachwa.
