Residents were urged not to litter

In their cleanup campaign, World Mission Church of God in collaboration with Kampala Capital City Association (KCCA), Nakawa division cleaned up Ssempagala Zone, a residential community in Ntinda.

In a bid to share heavenly mothers love and caring for one another, Nelson Musabayane, a branch church leader said, "The cleanup campaign drive is communal work and giving back to the community. This is taking place in other parts of Africa simultaneously, and we chose this zone because it is the dirtiest."

Speaking during the cleanup, Ssalongo Kabuye Phillip, a resident appreciated members of the church for the noble cause. He mentioned that since some residents don't have money to pay garbage collectors, they litter garbage.

Since it's a rainy season, Wilson Alireki, a solid waste supervisor KCCA, Nakawa division cautioned residents who use polyethene bags as latrines and dump on the road side. He also advised residents who litter garbage anywhere to stop because it leads to diseases when areas flood.

"I am so grateful because the members of the church have cleaned up the filthiest trenches in our zone. Since residents always pay a fee to garbage collectors to take their garbage, I am grateful that today, it's free of charge," Grace Ader stated.

Musabayane said the campaign was successful though some residents declined to respond.
