FDC to defy court on weekly prayers

The Forum for Democratic Change has vowed to go on with its protest campaign including weekly prayer activities and planned demonstrations despite an order from the Constitutional Court telling them to stop such activities.

Addressing the party's weekly press conference today at Najjanankumbi, FDC president Gen. Mugisha Muntu said, "We never knew this government could degenerate to the level of manipulating the constituinonal court to make such orders stopping prayers. Prayers are governed by the laws of God. They are above any government."

Flanked by the Leader Of Opposition in Parliament Wafula Oguttu and party spokesman Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, Muntu said they would go with their activities against all odds.

"If they shut our party headquarters, we shall take the prayers to the mosques and churches. Intervening in people's spiritual life last happened during Amin's regime. It shows that this regime is seriously panicking."
