Lwemiyaga MP Theodore Sekikuubo's bid for deputy speakership has hit a snag after the Electoral Commission blocked his gazette after expressing interest

Five NRM candidates have so far officially expressed interest in vying for the positions of speaker and deputy speaker of parliament to the party electoral commission in writing as of Wednesday morning.

The five include incumbent Rebecca Kadaga and her deputy Jacob Oulanyah who are vying for speaker of parliament, while the other three are Mitooma district woman MP Jovia Kamateeka, former female youth representative Monica Amondig and Ajuri county MP Hamson Obua.

Commissioner of the NRM electoral commission Jane Alisemera has revealed that Kadaga was the first to express her interest in the speakership position noting that she delivered her papers to the commission privately last evening.

Oulanyah, while presenting his papers this morning, noted that his application comes in the wake of the speakership post falling vacant after Kadaga decided to run for the office, adding that he is ready to follow all the guidelines that have been set by the commission.

Meanwhile Lwemiyaga MP Theodore Sekikuubo's bid for deputy speakership has hit a snag after the Electoral Commission blocked his gazette after expressing interest.

He was shocked to find his name missing on the official Gazette presented to parliament by the secretary of the electoral commission sam rwakojo.

In his letter to the clerk to parliament, Rwakojo emphasized that the commission didn't gazette Sekikuubo for some special reasons.

Sekikuubo however blasted Rwakojo accusing him of being used by foreign affairs minister Sam Kutesa.
