Toro Kingdom to make consultations on proposed Mucwa Royal hotel

The Toro kingdom Prime Minister Bernard Tungakwo has appointed a 49 member committee to make consultations on the proposed construction of the Toro Royal hotel.

The hotel to be housed with the current Kingdom parliamentary building was proposed and approved by the kingdom parliament.

However the proposal faced resistance after it was tabled before the Kingdom's clans' council (Orukurato) in March.

Notable among the people that opposed the idea was Princess Elizabeth Bagaya who is King Oyo's paternal aunt who proposed that all stake holders be consulted before the project kicks off.

"Toro is an identity and heritage for Toro and more so it belongs to all the people of Toro. If possible let us hold a referendum" the tough speaking Bagaya said as she opposed the idea in March.

Speaking to the New Vision on Friday morning, Prime Minister Tungakwo said that role of the committee is to carry out consultations across all stakeholders in the Kingdom.

Committee members include political leaders, religious leaders, kingdom officials, members of the civil society, members of the business community and the media among others.

The committee is being headed by the kingdom Prime Minister.

"The Royal Hotel is a must be. The idea came from cabinet and as cabinet we have already started making proposals to generate money for the project" Tungakwo told the New Vision.

The proposed four star royal hotel will have 60 resting rooms, a restaurant, bar, cottages, two swimming pools among other amenities.

Tungakwo also disclosed that the architectural designs for the hotel have already been designed and approved by both the king and cabinet.
