Established in 1988, the MRC/UVRI Uganda Research Unit on AIDS is an internationally recognized center of excellence for research on HIV infection and related diseases, contributing knowledge on the evolving epidemic, the evaluation of innovative health care options, treatment and prevention, and the development of health policy and practice in Africa and worldwide. The Unit's head offices are located at the Uganda Virus Research Institute- Entebbe Campus, and the main research activities in Masaka, Kalungu, Kampala and Wakiso districts, including the peri-urban areas of Entebbe. The Unit is now seeking enthusiastic individuals to fill the following positions;

Driver (2 Positions)

Position Code: DRV416

Reports to: Fleet Supervisor

Duty station: Entebbe and Masaka

Start Date: ASAP

Job Purpose: To drive organisational vehicles safely and efficiently as per the fleet guidelines in fulfilment of unit programmes.

Education and Person specifications.

• Minimum of Ordinary level certificate with at least 5 years' experience in a busy local or international organisation. With credits in English and Mathematics

• Must have classes B, CM, DL, with a clean driving record.

• Must have had training in defensive driving from a reputable training institution.

• Good vehicle mechanical knowledge will be an added advantage.

• Personal integrity, ability to learn and flexibility required.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Terms and conditions

Successful applicants will serve a one year contract inclusive of a 6 months' probation, with possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds. Other terms and conditions for the post are as per the staff policy manual. A good salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered to the successful candidates.
