How to pull off a colourful suit

Apr 21, 2016

The power suit has for long been a symbol of women’s emancipation and in the 80’s and 90’s came with padded shoulders to further emphasize the point.

Someone once commented that one of the best things about being a woman is the ability to wear both men's and women's clothing without raising any eyebrows.

The power suit has for long been a symbol of women's emancipation and in the 80's and 90's came with padded shoulders to further emphasize the point.

The suit then was made to ignore a woman's body shape so that she can work her way up the corporate ladder completely uninhibited.

Today in the age where more and more women are emancipated the suit has taken on a softer and more fashionable approach.

It is no longer your oversize grey coloured mama's suit that she wore in her days. Today the suit comes in livelier colours and more appealing designs.

We have seen several women wear it to the red carpet or even to parties. Here are a few tips on how to pull off the colourful suit.

Make it fun

Instead of that crisp cotton office shirt, try a camisole for a change. A camisole adds a feminine and playful appeal to the powerful nature of your suit.

Alternatively a light chiffon blouse with frills around the bust works wonders as well and is a good alternative to the old cotton white t-shirt.

If you are daring enough and are gifted with a small bust, ditch the blouse all together and go braless. It's an unconventional yet stylish look that looks great on the red carpet.

The shoes

This suit goes well with pointy toe heels, however if you prefer comfort over style, the oxford shoes are a better and trendier options.

Go big on colour

Today the options to choose from are many and vast. Bright colours such as hot pink, red, green are in vogue.

Trade your usual dull coloured suit for something young, fresh and versatile such as the bright coloured suit.
