Prof. Obua appointed NARO boss

As the Organization’s top organ, the Council guides and coordinates all agricultural research activities in Uganda.

 

Cabinet has appointed Prof. Joseph Obua as chairman National Agriculture Research Organization (NARO) governing council.

As the Organization's top organ, the Council guides and coordinates all agricultural research activities in Uganda.

It focuses mainly on crops, fisheries, forestry, and livestock, disseminate and apply research   findings.

A Regional Coordinator, Lake Victoria Research Initiative (VicRes), Prof. Obua will be assisted by 15 other members.

They include Monica Kabatooro, Margaret Ebuu, Capt. Esau Tisa Tisasira, Patrick Cheboron, Basaza Gudula, Idah Mehangye, Prof. David Kabasa, Dr. William Wagiore, Dr. Theresa Sengooba,  Haruna Mawanda, Alex Kakooza, Titus Kajura, Dr. Ambrose Agona, Dr. Samuel Mugasi and Dr. Peter Ndemere.

Briefing Journalists at the Office of the Prime Minister, Information Minister Jim Muhwezi said the members' term takes effects.

The members are expected to strengthen government's efforts towards building a strong, modern and research-based agricultural sector in Uganda.
